Beautiful Children's Books

I’ve always loved children’s books. It goes back to that fondness I have for things that are lovingly made. To me, certain books fall in to that category. The following are some truly beautiful books that were assiduously illustrated.

1. Chanticleer And The Fox by Barbara Cooney

I tend to list my favorites first and this one is right up there. Please check this out and look at each beautiful illustration.

I love that she did a little different style on this book than her other children’s books.

Look at the interesting use of color page to page. Cohesive yet varied.

Truly lovely.

2. White Snow Bright Snow by Alvin Tresselt, Illustrated by Roger Duvoisin

There’s something so lovely about this book. Like going back in time when you open it’s pages.

It speaks of better days and simpler times. Vintage in all the right ways.

It makes me want Christmas and a fireplace. I love the soft yellow and red tones.

3. The Frog Went A Courtin’ by John Langstaff, Pictures by Feodor Rojankovsky

This is such a fun and darling old poem that my kids really love. The illustrations are saturated and fun to look at.

4. Little Nino’s Pizzeria  by Karen Barbour

I bought this at a thrift store cause I was walking by and noticed the illustrations.

I also like that it’s super simple and has kind of a sweet little message.

5. Fanny’s Dream by Mark & Caralyn Buehner

This is likely my favorite picture book out there. My Mom has given it to each of us when we get married.

It is a summation of life and what’s truly important.

If you haven’t read it you really should because it is so cute. My little Cal looks for it at night and says “I want to read Fanny.”
